Paranoid Park is the latest film by Gus Van Sant and features skateboarding as a catalyst to move the story forward. This is not the first time skateboarding has brushed up against hollywood, but it might be the best film to do so....here's the trailer:
Now, consider the TOP Skateboard Films that Hollywood has made, and we might be so quick to realize that Hollywood and skateboarding don't mix. Here's a quick top 3!
3. Gleaming the Cube - I don't remember a whole lot about this movie other than Tony Hawk being in it.
2. Thrashin - Gator was rad in this movie, too bad he fell off the skateboarding bandwagon in some harsh times.
1. Lords of Dogtown - My favorite of the hollywood films. At first the skateboarding community in Los Angeles, didn't like it, then money started flowing and everyone jumped on board.
You can pick up these films on Amazon.com for cheap. I didn't mention Grind, Kids, The Wizard, or Wassup Rockers.
As for Paranoid Park, you can catch that in theaters later this year.
